You want to be taking every opportunity to do it to keep the gauge from emptying for as long as possible. It's really good but getting the timing of the counter down takes practice and Valor HBG may have tons of damage output but with how much it needs to combine it actually does have some balance to it. The window is tight, but not super tight - I think you have like 3 frame window at the very least.
